The newly released report D5.2, Recommendations for Furniture Sector Stakeholders, presents ten strategic recommendations to drive systemic change across the sector. Developed within the FurnCIRCLE project, the report addresses critical cultural, financial, and technical barriers impeding circular economy (CE) adoption.

A major focus is on the need for a cultural shift within companies and among consumers. Overcoming internal resistance and building consumer trust through awareness campaigns, marketing, and standardized CE labels are seen as vital.

Financially, the report urges SMEs to leverage EU funding, shared investment strategies, and digital tools to boost competitiveness. Technical adoption should be supported through partnerships and pilot projects demonstrating CE’s real-world value.

It emphasizes the importance of strategic partnerships and embedding a strong internal CE culture aligned with transparent, ESPR-compliant communication to avoid greenwashing.

The report calls for lifelong, inclusive and purpose-driven CE education, tailored to all levels of the workforce, incorporating practical training in eco design, lifecycle management, and digital tools like AI and blockchain.

To support workforce transformation, it recommends effective training systems, international collaboration, and leadership development.

Finally, robust monitoring and evaluation systems and cross-cutting recommendations are essential to guide guide future policy and implementation.
